Pro-Celebrity Weakest Link v1.1

by Howard Bishop

Summary

The objective is to bid for a band of celebrities, public figures, sportspersons and East End gangsters and ensure that one of them is left standing at the end of the game. You gain one vote each time one of your personalities' names appears in an appointed newspaper. You then use these votes to dispose of members of the opposition (the weakest links). There will be 6 players each with a team of up to 6 contestants.

Auction

You pick 36 weakest link contestants and put them in celebrity order, (favourite first). Allocation of contestants to players is then by the PTTOTD method (it involves pointy things and donkeys), or if that fails I'll try something a little more scientific. The only restriction is that you can't choose Tony Blair, not that should upset you very much.

You are the Weakest Link . Goodbye (method of play)

Over the next 3 weeks I will use a number of newspaper editions (probably about 6, probably the Guardian or Independent, but there could be a curveball Daily Star in there!!) to determine how many votes are won by each contestant. Every time their name appears on the front or back page of that newspaper (picture captions, headlines and adverts don't count) one vote is won.

Players are informed about the number of votes won by each contestant. They then select the opposition contestant(s) to be the "weakest link". Each contestant's votes can't be split, but contestants on the same team can vote for different people. The 3 contestants who are the target of the most "weakest link" votes are voted off. Ties are broken by the number of votes scored by each contestant (lowest loses), using countback if necessary, or randomly after that. If there are less than 3 that fall into that category resolved, ALL contestants who didn't score are also voted off (ties are not broken). Winner is survivor or the "last weakest link".

Dave's team voted for Mike Atherton,

Frank Skinner voted for Charlie Drake

Charlie Drake voted for Frank Skinner, as did Marilyn Manson and Max Bygraves.

Mike Atherton voted for Kevin Costner.

Charlie Drake and Frank Skinner get 4 votes and are out.  Mike Atherton and Kevin Costner both get 2 votes, but Atherton is the "stronger link", so Costner goes out. If Costner had scored 2 votes, then the tie couldn't have been broken so both would have gone out.

Example 2

Morgan Freeman (0)

Marilyn Manson (0)

Wincey Willis (0)

Dale Winton, Bruce Willis and Mike Atherton all vote for Max Bygraves.

Max Bygraves votes for Bob Willis

Bob Willis and Max Bygraves both go out. Because there aren't 3 weakest links, all the non-scorers (Wincey Willis, Morgan Freeman, Marilyn Manson and George Bush Snr) also go out, leaving just Atherton, Winton, and Bruce Willis to battle it out.
