Eurologica by Howard Bishop
Start-up phase Each player assigns a name to his team and the GM picks 4 other European teams to join the league, who will be a mixture of the famous and not so famous (e.g. Honved, AC Milan, Hibernian and Grasshoppers Zurich). Note that this game is played blind, so nobody knows which of the 4 teams are player-controlled. Each player then receives a pool of 14 home team scores and 14 away team scores and a set of bonus events (one of each). Scores
Events
Orders and matches For each set of fixtures, the player assigns one of his scores to each of the 2 teams he is allocated that set. He can then apply any ONE event to any of the eight teams for that set. There are two sets of fixtures in each postal turn. The score in each game is determined by the number of goals assigned to each team and the result of any events. Events are applied in the order shown in the table. No more than one of each event can be applied in the same match. If an even number of the same event is played, all are lost. If there is an odd number, the team receiving most of the same event gets it. Example 1. Lokomotiv Leipzig are playing Kaiserslautern. Assignment : LL get a 2 and K get a 0. Event 9 is given to K and Event 2 is given to LL Event 2 "Settle for a point" - Because the scores are more than one apart there is no effect from the event (2-0) Event 9 "Defensive blunder" - Also has no effect for the same reason (final score 2-0) Example 2. Sunderland are playing FC Bruges Assignment : Sunderland get a 1 and FC Bruges get a 2. S gets event 5. FCB gets events 10 & 7 Event 5 "Barn door" - Sunderland's score is now fixed at 1. (1-2) Event 7 "Stretchered off" - FC Bruges could now lose goals in future games (1-2) Event 10 "Marching orders" - A 2 and 4 are rolled so FCB's score drops by 1 (final score 1-1) |
